Ken Ferguson’s life work has been helping companies build IT management and technical teams while advancing the careers of IT professionals.

After earning a Bachelors in Biology and a Post-Graduate degree in Business, Ken began his career as a major accounts Systems Engineer with IBM Canada.

In 1982, Ken left IBM for U.S.-based IT recruiting firm Source EDP where he became a top producer and transferred to the Atlanta office in 1995.

Following the IPO and subsequent acquisition of Source, Ken-co-founded Magellan Partners to focus on the leadership needs of dot-com startups.

When the dot-com bubble burst, Ken took a break from recruiting to open six locations of a fitness franchise before returning to IT search in 2006 with Berkshire Recruiting Services.

In 2008, he rebranded as Berkshire Executive Search to focus his practice on retained searches for mid-market C/V/D-level roles. In 2016, he adopted a bespoke service model, working exclusively on one search at a time in partnership with hiring executives.

In addition to his search engagements, Ken supports IT executives with pro bono consultations on market dynamics, candidate psychology, hiring plans, and job search strategies and tactics which leads him to serving as personal Career Concierge for a small group of IT executives.

Following Steven Covey’s admonition to “live life in crescendo because your most impactful work is always ahead of you” and agreeing with Alan Weiss’s belief that “retirement is an ancient and irrelevant artifact. To deliberately stop contributing, creating, and providing value to others is unthinkable and a slippery slope to irrelevancy and decline.”  Ken continues to connect like-minded leaders working at the intersection of business, technology, and leadership with new opportunities.

When not scouring the market for IT leadership talent, or helping IT leaders advance their careers, Ken enjoys DIY projects and swimming, biking, and running to keep up with his Ironman triathlete wife. In addition to Caribbean boating and diving vacations, they love RV camping in America’s beautiful parks.
