An award-winning technology journalist, conference moderator and editorial executive, Maryfran Johnson is Executive Director of CIO Programs for IDG. In this dual role, she spearheads the strategic direction of CIO’s extensive portfolio of national and regional events and works closely with the CIO Executive Council (CEC) in building a robust community of Chief Information Officers and IT executives.
Along with agenda development and speaker recruitment, Maryfran also moderates the annual CIO 100 Symposium and a regional series of nine CIO Perspectives Forums. She brings more than 25 years of experience covering IT leadership, technology and business trends to her events, content development and coaching role, along with an extensive network of CIO contacts built during previous leadership positions as Editor in Chief of IDG’s CIO and Computerworld magazines.
Maryfran has written extensively about IT strategy and business transformation, most recently as an adjunct researcher with IDC’s IT Executive Programs. She has been a guest speaker and moderator at numerous industry conferences, where she is known for her engaging stage presence and extensive knowledge of IT leadership issues. She holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from The Ohio State University’s Kiplinger Program and a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Florida. Prior to joining IDG, she spent 10 years as a reporter at daily newspapers in Florida, Washington State and Ohio.
