CIO, PatientFocus

As the Chief Operating Officer for PatientFocus, Kyle Duke has responsibility for all aspects of day-to-day operations and technology. Operations includes client services, patient services and account management. The client services team works with each client to ensure new implementations are completed successfully and existing clients operate efficiently and effectively on a daily basis. The patient services team leverages multiple channels to communicate with clients’ patients on a daily basis. The account management team is responsible for managing client relationships and coordinating client services, patient services and the technology teams to address all client needs. The technology team is responsible for integrating PatientFocus technology platforms with clients’ patient accounting systems as well as managing and developing the technologies required to support technology enabled services.

Prior to joining PatientFocus, Kyle Duke was CIO for the State of Tennessee Health Care Finance and Administration. There he had responsibility for the information systems and technology strategy. He provided leadership for the internal IT team and managed the partner relationships for HCFA’s major IT contracts. Kyle also served as a member of the HCFA senior leadership team where he helped with the development of HCFA’s strategic plan and ensured alignment of the IT strategic plan.

Before his role at the State of Tennessee, Kyle was the VP of IT & CISO for Cigna-HealthSpring, where he was responsible for leading information technology security and compliance efforts. He also led the teams responsible for technology for Cigna-HealthSpring’s Living Well Clinics and applications to support Heath Services and Sales. Kyle was also Cigna-HealthSpring’s technology lead for strategic initiatives including M&A activity and Health Information Exchange.

Prior to Cigna-HealthSpring, Kyle was the Chief Technology Officer for Insight HealthCare Financial where he was responsible for leading all technology initiatives for the organization. Prior to Insight, he worked as a consultant for Frasier, Dean & Howard where he focused on assisting clients with SOX compliance projects. He also served as a Manager of Information Systems for CHD Meridian Healthcare and the Director of IT for Patterson School of Accounting at the University of Mississippi.

Kyle holds a BA in Computer Science from Maryville College and an MBA from Lipscomb University. He also studied accounting at the University of Mississippi. Kyle is a Certified Public Accountant. He serves as a board member of the Tennessee chapter of HIMSS and the Nashville Technology Council. Additionally, he was a founding board member for Young Health Care Leaders (now Leadership Healthcare), an organization that supports the development of health care leaders in Nashville. Kyle has served as a host, governing body member and panel presenter for several IT security leaders conferences. In 2010, he was nominated for the ISE Southeast Information Security Executive of the Year and was voted the People’s Choice award winner. In 2012, he was the winner of the Nashville Technology Council CISO of the Year award.
